Twelve-year-old Nova Hoffman is headed to Antarctica with her bestie, Emilee, for a week! Nova’s scientist mom works there at a field camp called Penguin Ranch with—you guessed it—real penguins! Nova can’t wait to see the penguins for herself, but she has another reason for this visit: to convince Mom to come home. Nova can’t bear the thought of going another winter without her. But shortly after the girls arrive, Mom’s assistant dies under mysterious circumstances. Nova’s mom is now a prime suspect, and her research grant is at risk of being frozen, for good.
